Back to School Arrangement

Trying to get your kid in an exclusive private school? Send this arrangement with the application for some brownie points. It also makes an effective bribe for that teacher who’s out to flunk your child. You’ve got to admit, this arrangement is a whole lot more fun than studying.

What you’ll need:

A plastic tumbler
About 3 dozen new pencils
A measuring tape
A rubber band
Flowers of your choice

This technique is very similar to the one for the Picnic Straw Arrangement. Start with a plastic tumbler. Make sure that the tumbler is as straight up and down as possible, so the pencils will line up better. Next, put a rubber band around the middle, and put a pencil between the rubber band and tumbler, letting the rubber band keep it in place.

Insert the rest of the pencils underneath the rubber band. Periodically, you will have to straighten the pencils.

Cover the rubber band with a piece of measuring tape. Pretty nifty idea for a ribbon, if I do say so myself.

Then add flowers in the tumbler. In the example above, I actually used silk flowers, so this arrangement will last forever, kind of like school.
