Herb Bouquet

FARMER’S MARKET HERB BOUQUET

I know people expect good hostess gifts from me when I’m invited to dinner. Such pressure, I tell you. I feel like I’ve got to wow them with some floral arrangement or they’re not going to offer me dessert. Recently, I was going to a friend’s house for dinner, so I was at the farmer’s market looking for flowers to make an arrangement. But passing the stands of fragrant fresh herbs, it dawned on me that a bouquet of herbs would be more novel (and useful) than another floral arrangement. And boy, does it smell good in the car on your way there.

What you’ll need:

Fresh herbs, like rosemary, basil, thyme
Artichoke on a stem
Piece of canvas or burlap, approx. 12-inch square
Raffia

How to do it:

1. Spread your piece of canvas out so there are 4 corners. Arrange the herbs in one of the corners.

2. Fold the remaining 3 corners of the canvas in and fold the bottom up, and wrap the entire arrangement in raffia. If some of the herbs look like they want to fall out, tuck them back in.
