Decorating Ikea chandeliers with flowers

I recently designed the flowers for a backyard wedding, and the happy couple bought these Ikea chandeliers and candleholders for me to decorate with flowers. They were really inexpensive (the “Rimfrost” chandeliers were only $17 each), and together with the flowers added, the two are a match made in heaven.

Before

Ikea actually classifies “Rimfrost” as a lampshade, even though it hangs and has crystals on it. They’re a great buy for $17.

After

With some roses and ivy attached to the rim, the chandeliers become sumptuously romantic. First, I cut the roses leaving about an inch of stem, and then inserted the stems in water tubes to keep the flowers hydrated. Next, I wound about 8 inches of wire around the stem and tied the wire around the rim of the chandelier. I finished it off by wrapping ivy around the top.

But small spray roses around the base of the candles transform them for an outdoor wedding. I placed a small ring of wet floral foam around the base to insert the spray roses, and then wrapped ivy around the bottom and let it hang down.
