"Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing the directions for making the floral cake. Last Sunday was my mother’s 90th birthday and I made six floral cakes as centerpieces for the round tables. They looked wonderful. I used pink carnations for the bottom row, white for the next two rows and the most beautiful deep pink spray roses for the top. Like yours, I tucked in leaves from the roses to finish the top of each cake. Everyone wanted to know which florist supplied the centerpieces. They were surprised when I told them that I made them. Although I do enjoy some creativity, I’ve never been known for special floral arrangements. Thanks to you, the centerpieces were a big hit. Bottom line, my 90-year-old mother was thrilled with the arrangements, as were the guests who were lucky to take them home. I wish you continued success in all of your endeavors."

"I saw your appearance on the HGTV show with Kitty Bartholomew and I just wanted to say how much I LOVE your sense of style. It isn’t often that I write someone to let them know how much I appreciate something they have done, but my personal goal since the Sept. 11 attacks is to tell people (even ones I don’t know) how I appreciate them. I enjoyed your sense of color, whimsy without looking like you’re at Disneyworld, and the wall of texture. Often I find people like Christopher Lowell to have wonderful ideas, but if I see one more room of a moss green or mustard yellow I will have to quit watching! The angles at which you placed things are also an inspiration. I usually don’t like a more modern approach because I find it cold and unforgiving if you have things like baby toys around. I didn’t sense that with your home. I think your home would be a lovely place to have friends over for dinner, and I will copy some of your ideas."
